[00:00:00] Welcome to the World Changers Church Gold Coast podcast. Join us as we listen to today's message. [00:00:06] All right, praise God. Thanks, Shelly. All right, welcome to church. If you see Lily Moonen walking around taking pictures today, say hello to her and smile. What we're looking at doing as a church is - we've prepared to grow long enough. And this morning I think it's time to realize. It's time to start inviting friends and family to church, to start evangelizing, to start doing more outreach and missions, to equip people to go and do more than just busy. I was talking to someone this morning. They said people's lives are just so busy. I was talking to pastors around the Gold Coast, and they said their church congregations are just getting smaller and smaller because people are taking second and third jobs. And we're going to talk a lot about that this morning inside the message. But I want to encourage you that what we're going through is not the first time that people have been through it. You know, 1917 here in Australia, they were shooting rabbits to eat. Y'all don't remember that? Neither do I. In 1940. 1976, 1998. Just about every war and every financial crisis that we've had, I think humanity has come through. [00:01:44] Amen. [00:01:46] Every epidemic and pandemic that's happened, we've come through, and most of the world made it through without God. That's a strange thing to say, isn't it? But we made it through with God. We came out better, stronger. Some of us, from 2020, we thought our businesses were going to go under. They came out bigger. We thought that we would be rebuilding our lives. We're now wondering what we're going to do with how blessed we are. You know, right now, church, we're such a blessed church that you don't even know how blessed we are. We as a church World Changers, for the first time in eight years, we were able to pay all our bills in a month. You don't know what that feels like when you got to work five days a week to pay the bills for the church. But I do. [00:02:41] Amen. [00:02:42] So the more that you bless this church with your giving, the more we can do; things like the food trailer, things like that. And why am I pausing this morning? Because this all actually ties in with the message. We can get busy doing things or we can get busy being good people and Christians. See, a lot of times with our faith, it relies on what we can do. That's where we get trapped in. And it relies on what God and it relies on who we talk to or how we network. And if I just had that opportunity, if I had a bigger building, a bigger platform, more this, more that. Listen, you change one life, you've changed any eternity worth of value. You know, it's really just one life at a time. We've made church big. And I've had big church. I sat in a 5000 member church in New York before we came here. This church has had four locations. And people say, well, why aren't you now? Cause we're not trying to be big. We're trying to be good. [00:03:51] Amen. [00:03:52] Does that make sense? I want to stay relevant. I mean, I've had things happen inside of Australia where people have said that we need to become a part of this to be able to grow. And I just think we need to keep following Jesus. [00:04:08] Amen. [00:04:10] So, what does that look like? So faith in transition, we're gonna talk about part two. Last week, we talked about faith in the middle. When you have a dream, when you have a business, when God calls you to do something, it feels really good in the beginning. And then you get to the middle, it's like, oh, should I have done this? And if you're like me, I'm not really saying when. I'm not really one of those social butterflies. I just. I'm a socially trained introvert, okay? That means I know how to look like I'm supposed to be here, but I'd really rather be at home sitting by myself. Y'all didn't know that, all right? So. And then when I get to the middle, it takes a lot of energy when everyone around me is pushing against what I'm doing. That's faith in the middle. Because I gotta know who I am. I gotta know who God is, and I still gotta believe in my dream. Am I making sense? But faith in transition is when I've. [00:05:09] Come to the middle and I'm about (to get). [00:05:11] To the end, my faith has either got to grow or it's got to deplete and go back and start over again. Does that make sense? So let's talk about what faith is. Now. I know that faith is in Hebrews 11:1. Now, faith is the substance of things not seen and what we believe for and all that stuff. That is exactly what faith is. But let's look at what faith is. It's hope, it's trust. Faith is belief in something. I believe in this. I don't know why I'm being so calm this morning, but I actually want you to hear this message. [00:05:50] Amen. [00:05:52] And it's like with risk mitigation, when you're doing an investment or something like that, you make an analysis before you make that investment of whether it's going to work or not. But it's still a risk. Right. And when you take that risk, that's something like faith. You just believe it's going to work out. What you're believing in is different, but you're still believing in something. [00:06:18] Now, faith, for me, as a Christian. [00:06:20] Is when I have done all that I can do, I believe that God's going to step in and provide what I can't. Does that make sense? I believe I have a helper that's, you know, not an imaginary friend or a fairy tale. I believe that God actually assists me, and I've seen God do it time and time again. Does this make sense? So faith doesn't rely on what we can do. It relies on what God has already done. Yeah. So let's stop striving and start trusting. Let's stop working so hard at our [00:06:56] Faith and allow faith to work for [00:06:58] Us through the power of God and how it works in our lives. So get this, I'm gonna get excited soon, but I'm just trying to not get past the points I need to make this morning that will set us up for where we're going. [00:07:13] Amen. [00:07:14] So I was thinking this week, I had a challenging week financially in my life, and I was just like, Lord, this is not just faith in the middle. This is not just faith in transition. This is faith. I need some money, and where is it going to come from? And then the next thing I know, my accountant calls me. Don't you love it when your accountant calls you and you run a business? It's just so good. Where did this money go? Where did that money go? Asking me about 30 questions. [00:07:44] And then he goes. [00:07:45] At the end, he goes, yeah, it. [00:07:45] Looks like you're going to have a pretty good BAS return for the church for this quarter. I said, hallelujah. [00:07:53] I never thought that God would provide through an accountant. Usually they just take money. Anybody know what I'm talking about? [00:08:01] So I had this challenge, and my faith was in transition, and I realized that this message is not raw. [00:08:07] It's real. [00:08:09] This morning, you can be considering or thinking about the rawness of what I'm. [00:08:18] Going to talk to you about, or you can actually take in what God's trying to say to you as a core group of people. It's funny that it's you that is here this morning, one of the things I look at is, we are trying so hard to be good Christians when we don't even know what a Christian really is. See, being a good Christian will never work. Even Jesus said, there's only one good, and he is God. [00:08:48] I will never be perfect. But somehow we've fallen into perfectionism. We've blamed ourselves for how we don't [00:08:56] Know as much as Jeremy does. Just picking on Jeremy. Not really. [00:09:00] We don't. We can't sing like Michelle. [00:09:02] And, you know, I'm not gonna pick on you, Paddy, but praise the Lord. I had something there. Thank you. Amen. I had something there. [00:09:13] But we all look at other people and we go, if I could just. I'll never be like them. [00:09:20] And you look at. You may look at me in some ways and say, oh, I'll never be able to gird up or stand up underneath what Pastor Kyle goes through. He has so much faith. [00:09:34] I have faith in Jesus. [00:09:36] I'm not strong. [00:09:38] I'm not better than you. I've just learned to depend on God more. See, I'm not stronger than you. I'm not smarter than you. I'm not better than you. I've just learned to depend on God more. [00:09:51] That's my faith. Does that make sense? [00:09:55] I still have my bad days. So I want to talk to you about something that is foundational in our walk in this faith and transition, which is the word faith. But we're not going to talk about it from a milky standpoint. We're going to talk about it. For many of us, that faith is [00:10:11] Something that feels like a burden. You ever thought a pastor would say that? [00:10:17] Ever feel like not going to church? Come on, raise your hand. It would be really good if I could just stay home and catch up on The Voice. [00:10:28] I like the voice. [00:10:31] It's pretty cool. [00:10:32] I wish I could sing. Me and Tina watch it together. We both sing and just realized we'd never make it past the blinds. Mainly me, not Tina. She does very good. [00:10:43] Amen. [00:10:45] So faith feels like a burden. And sometimes we feel like we gotta [00:10:49] Work hard to maintain it, to strive to be worthy of it, to push ourselves, to demonstrate it, to be Christian, to come in. [00:10:58] How you doing? I'm good. You ever come to church and it's like someone asks you, how you doing? Like, I'm good. But it just feels like you had to push that out. You had to give birth to that feeling. [00:11:08] Amen. [00:11:10] I'm gonna make y'all laugh today. [00:11:11] Cause we're gonna get down. [00:11:13] You know what? I'm talking about, like, you just really don't feel what you're saying. [00:11:17] Come on. Somebody, anybody. [00:11:20] That's faith in transition. See, this isn't raw. [00:11:23] This is just real. I got to talk to you this morning, because when this church grows, we need real people. We need real people of faith. Not spooky pookie flapping about, read your mouth too much, saying things that you don't even know what you're talking about because you're trying to feel good about yourself. [00:11:38] Amen. [00:11:40] We need real people that talk with [00:11:42] Real words founded on God that make sense. [00:11:46] So faith shouldn't feel like a burden. [00:11:48] But sometimes it does. So, here's the good news. Faith isn't about us working hard. It's about God working in and through us. See, recently, we've taken on trying to do more things externally of the church and entrepreneurship. And I'll leave that at that. Cause I'm not gonna talk about that. [00:12:09] But we tried to do more, and. [00:12:10] We found out real quickly, as the church tries to do more outside of church, that that feels like work. [00:12:17] And we found out when you work for someone, you have everything you need. [00:12:22] You got all the tools you need. You got all the stuff you need. [00:12:25] Everything's planned out, and you don't know what to do. They tell you what to do. But when you go to work for yourself, all of a sudden, you're responsible for the tools you don't have, you're responsible for. And so if you're not adequate to provide the people underneath, you cannot do what they're called to do. I'm very thankful that God is adequate to give us what we need to [00:12:47] Walk through this life. [00:12:49] And that's what I'm trying to say, is that we look at things from a boss/employee standard when walking with God. And when we're in this transition, we're like, we get there to the middle, and we go, God, why didn't you give me what we need? You got to understand, from the time you birth the dream to the time you finish the dream, God has given. [00:13:08] You everything you need. [00:13:11] No. Did he give you the money that you need? No. You might have to go work for that. Did he give you the people to surround yourself with, to walk that out? No. You might have to have some character and be a good friend and be friendly to have friends. But everything you need inside you, God, is placed so that each landmark in your life that you arrive at God. [00:13:35] Is providing wisdom, words, people, things of that nature. [00:13:40] Amen. [00:13:41] So I'm not talking about physical things. When I talk about getting the rest. [00:13:46] I'm talking about emotional and spiritual things today. Does that make sense? So let's explore together what the word of God has to say about this. Faith is a gift from God. [00:13:59] You know, have you ever heard somebody say, I need more faith? You heard anybody say that I need more faith. You cannot get any more faith than [00:14:08] You have right now. [00:14:13] You cannot get more faith than you have right now because it says you have received a measure of faith from God. And the only way your faith goes from faith to faith and glory to [00:14:23] Glory is when God reveals something to you. Does that make sense? [00:14:28] So it's through revelation in his word, it being revealed. It's through revelation with the Holy Spirit it being revealed that your faith expands. But it's not by you. You can't go work your faith. I'm gonna do ten reps of faith today. One, I'm gonna do 30 sit ups of faith today. Two, I'm going to go swim three laps of faith today. Drowning. [00:14:55] Amen. [00:14:56] You cannot grow your faith unless you spend time with God for him to reveal more things to you to believe in. So if you're not getting in the word and you're just showing up on. [00:15:07] Sunday, your faith's not growing. [00:15:09] If you're not having conversations with people about God and with and asking questions, your faith's not growing, because through those instances, God's going to work through the Holy Spirit. So if you feel like you're stuck, it's because you're not stepping into a [00:15:26] Place to be fed in your faith. Does that make sense? [00:15:32] Do I feel stuck? [00:15:33] I feel stuck all the time. [00:15:35] You know, three questions I ask myself. [00:15:36] When I feel stuck. [00:15:38] Have I read my word? Have I worshiped? [00:15:40] Have I had good conversations about Jesus? [00:15:43] And if those three things are lacking. [00:15:46] That means I am at work. [00:15:49] So first we need to understand that. [00:15:51] Faith is a gift from God. [00:15:52] We don't have to conjure it up or manufacture it or work ourselves into having more faith. Ephesians 8:9 says, God saved [00:16:01] You by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this. It is a gift from God. [00:16:08] Salvation is not a reward for good [00:16:11] Things that we've done, so none of us can boast about it. [00:16:17] Everything you have in God right now is not of you, because if it was of you, it'd still be the [00:16:23] Mess it was when you found it. [00:16:26] Amen. [00:16:27] You understand what I'm saying? So if you're messed up, if things are messing up in your life, you're blaming yourself. That's because you were trying to do and be perfect. And you put so much pressure on yourself to be better that you couldn't enjoy the good that you're in right now. Now you can't enjoy your kids if you're complaining about their attitude. You can't enjoy your dog if it's pooping in the floor. Paddy, say amen. [00:16:59] Amen. [00:17:01] You can't enjoy your husband or your wife if you're looking at something else and what they're not giving. So how can you enjoy God if you're not leaning on him? [00:17:15] Is this good? [00:17:17] Did you hear that? Faith is a gift from God. [00:17:21] You don't have to work for it. Religious is just. Religion will just go crazy over that stuff. [00:17:30] We can rest in assurance that God himself provides it. [00:17:33] Our job is to simply believe and receive it. [00:17:35] So we're nothing. Blab it, grab it, people. [00:17:41] You know what I'm talking about. [00:17:42] I'm going to believe God for a new car and a new house. [00:17:45] I receive. [00:17:47] Brother, you better get a job. Talk to a broker or a bank or have the money for that stuff. [00:17:53] Amen. [00:17:53] You can believe God, but you need wisdom from God to get that stuff. We're not a blab it grab it. [00:17:59] People here at world changers. [00:18:01] Do I believe in confessions? Yes. They're the same as affirmations. I'm reminding myself what I can have in God. But it's not to build up my faith. It's to expose my faith and reduce my humanity. [00:18:16] Amen. [00:18:18] I talked to Paddy the other day about something going on in my life, and I just kept stumbling around. [00:18:22] I said, listen, man, I'm just trying to watch my words right now. [00:18:26] You ever been going through something, you get to the middle of it, and your faith is in transition. And you know, just one word out of your mouth can change your direction by one degree. The way you think and believe can actually change your destiny. And you gotta watch your words when you're in transition to what you're. To the finalization of what God has for you. That's whether you are in business, church, or anywhere else. You can be right on the hip of receiving the greatest thing in your life. And one wrong word. You mean God takes it? No, no, I don't mean God takes it. [00:19:02] You discounted yourself from receiving it by your words. Does that make sense? [00:19:11] So you don't have to strive to earn it. It's freely given by his grace. And because it's a gift, we can [00:19:17] Rest in assurance that God himself provides it. Our job is to simply believe and receive. Is that good? Okay, the next thing I want to. [00:19:26] Talk to you about before we take this plane off is trusting God's work, not our own. [00:19:35] Trusting God's work, not our own. [00:19:37] Now, let me explain that to my [00:19:39] Blue collar people, my workers, my administrators, my people that work around the clock, 16 hours. [00:19:45] We're not talking about your physical labor. [00:19:48] We're talking about your emotional and spiritual labor. We're not talking about your job and your paycheck. We're talking about how you receive emotionally and spiritually from God. [00:20:01] So, what you have emotionally and spiritually [00:20:03] From God will produce in the natural. What you don't receive emotionally and spiritual from God will not produce in the natural seeds you sow is what you grow. [00:20:16] Amen. [00:20:17] Does that make sense? [00:20:20] So, faith is about trusting in God's work in you, not your own. All these self help books, they're great, man. I've done all of them, and I just had another one come through. It was really great. About five minutes after listening to the audio book to in the journal and doing all that stuff, I was still just as messed up because I was still trying to do it myself. I cannot. I cannot change my philosophy the way I think and believe until it is revealed to me the very change I need to happen in me. [00:20:56] Does that make sense? Am I making sense here? I'm looking at you. Yep. All right, so. Ooh, this is so good. I didn't know I was gonna do this this morning. [00:21:06] So often we get caught up in [00:21:08] Trying to be good enough, to do enough and act like we've got everything under control. [00:21:14] Anybody ever do that? Everybody ever felt the pressure? Just, like. Just image, just, I'm good, but you're hurting on the inside. Anybody suffering in silence, don't raise your hand. But you just really ain't as good as you're projecting. That's where you're hurting yourself the most, because you're trying to look good for others. [00:21:37] When you need to have peace in God. [00:21:42] You can act like you got peace. But if you really don't have peace. [00:21:47] You just have peace on performance. [00:21:50] Amen. [00:21:52] You hear that? [00:21:53] You can act like you have peace, but if you really don't have it, you just have peace on performance. And I know a lot of actors. [00:22:00] And you just acting. [00:22:02] Amen. [00:22:03] I've been doing church for 22 years now. I've seen every type of acting. Flukey, pookie, flip and flop. You could ever see backflips, too, running across pews. All that crazy stuff. I've even seen people run off pews and swing from chandeliers in their church and call it Jesus. [00:22:18] I just call it stupid. [00:22:20] Amen. [00:22:21] Do you understand what I'm saying? So what do we do when we. [00:22:31] Don't really have it all together? Philippians 2:13, there's a revelation here, for God is working in you, giving you the desires and the what? The word power. [00:22:47] We think of. [00:22:49] Power. [00:22:51] The word power here means wisdom. God is giving you the wisdom to please him. Oh, that's nice. [00:22:59] I just get to make God happy all the time. [00:23:02] Do you know what pleases a father when his children are blessed? You know what pleases a father is when his children are happy. You know what pleases a father is when his children are heading in the right direction and not destroying everything in their life. This is not about doing what God wants. This is about having wisdom as a father would for a child to go out there and get everything good that God has for you. God has given you wisdom to go out there and get everything good that God has prepared for you. Faith in the middle, faith in transition. I got to remind myself God's providing. [00:23:44] Wisdom for my next step. Is this good? Y'all listening? So that's great. I love that y'all. Quiet little Australian crowd this morning. [00:23:55] The fact of the matter is, you don't have to work for it. [00:23:57] You don't have to strive it. It's been given freely to you by grace. [00:24:02] Amen. [00:24:03] And as a bible, this is simply. [00:24:05] This verse that we've just read in Philippians 2:13 is simply instructing us that our responsibility is to trust him. Our responsibility is to trust him not to force ourselves to be or do something we're not. Listen, if I could sing, y'all couldn't get me. Y'all couldn't stop me from singing. Now, I know I can sing, but it's like. It's not Michelle sing. Like, Michelle can SING. I can sing. [00:24:34] Amen. [00:24:36] Michelle got a. Sorry for my. Please understand what I'm saying here. This is all due respect for how I say it, but I believe Michelle has a thick black woman on the inside of her that comes out when she sings. You know what I'm saying? [00:24:52] She don't sound like no skinny white girl. Amen. [00:24:56] That's a compliment. [00:25:00] You just called me thick. No, I didn't. [00:25:02] I said your voice sounds like a thick black woman. Hallelujah. I'm gonna stop digging a hole. Hallelujah. [00:25:09] Moving on. So this is simply instructions for our responsibility to trust him and not try and be something we're not. We're not imitators of God in the way that we see it. That means we're putting on a mask. [00:25:25] And the scripture says, we imitate God. [00:25:28] We take that the wrong way. We are supposed to learn who God. [00:25:32] Is and learn from him and grow in that place. Does that make sense? [00:25:38] So when you look at John 15:5. [00:25:40] Jesus gives us a beautiful illustration. Yes, I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who remain in me and I in them will produce much fruit. For apart from me, you can do nothing. Now, let's just hang right there for a second. Those that remain in me and I in them, there's a scripture that says, nothing can separate us from the love of God. Nothing can separate us from his hand. [00:26:07] So how much work do I really [00:26:09] Gotta do to be out of God's love? I gotta just deny it. I just gotta simply say, God doesn't love me. I can never be good. [00:26:20] But God says, I've never left you, and I will complete the work that I started in you. Give us a free license to sin and go live how we want. [00:26:28] No, this tells us that he's always going to be providing wisdom for our turnaround, wisdom for our detour, wisdom for our progression. [00:26:39] Amen. [00:26:40] Because apart from him, you can do nothing. So when you try and step out on your own, guess what happens? [00:26:48] You fall flat on your face, spiritually and emotionally. [00:26:52] I would not and could not be. [00:26:54] Married for as long as I have without God. Not because of Tina and her character, but because of me. [00:27:04] We always. [00:27:05] We always want something. [00:27:07] We always need something. It is a spiritual thing and a grace from God and a surrender to. [00:27:13] God to love someone the way God loves them and receive them as a daughter and receive them as a son of God. [00:27:22] Amen. [00:27:23] I would never leave my wife. I would never look at another woman. But, you know, sometimes. Does marriage ever get mundane, Tina? Does it ever get mundane? I haven't seen her. I told Eli this morning, take my keys, because all I do is sleep [00:27:41] At home right now. [00:27:43] I haven't seen my wife in over three weeks for good quality time, because of what God is having me do and what I'm walking out and the journey I'm on right now. You can feel sorry for me, but I'm doing what I got to do to provide for my family. [00:27:57] Amen. [00:27:58] I don't want nobody to feel sorry for me for what I'm doing, to do what I got to do for my family. That's my job. And then when I can't do it, God fills in the rest and does the rest. He gives me the strength to do what I'm doing. Don't feel sorry for me. I can't do what I'm doing without Jesus right now. I don't want nobody to feel sorry for me. This is my little winge fit. No, I'm telling you. I could not make this transition without God. I couldn't push in this final hour without God. I couldn't go this round 30 without God. I couldn't swing the next punch without God. I couldn't stand on the next job site without God. I couldn't sit in the next meeting without God. I surely couldn't take another phone call about somebody complaining about something I didn't do without God. If you only knew what your pastor does for you, and you wanna complain because I didn't shake your hand. Bless ya. I'm gonna be at the door today. [00:28:59] To shake all your hands. Amen. [00:29:05] The fruit of our lives comes not. [00:29:07] From our efforts, but remaining connected to Jesus. [00:29:11] I can tell when somebody's talking out [00:29:13] Of their mouth instead of out of their faith. People. You see, division happens very quickly. Cause you make a thought, God's idea, and you ain't see, listen, you ain't called. Oh, I'm about to get gritty. [00:29:33] Go with Jesus. [00:29:34] I'm going with him. I really am. I'm selling my spirit. Listen, if you speak in something that causes a delay from this community. What? I'm responsible for this community. You're in division. [00:29:50] If you're a parking lot prophet, a [00:29:53] Sidewalk teacher or pastor, and you're tearing down the words that I say and what God's given me. Cause I promise you, I pray for this church more than you do, then you are in division. [00:30:04] You didn't mean to be, but you are. Faith is not about you thinking what. [00:30:11] Would make this church better. [00:30:13] Listen, we come here to be a community. We don't come here to be better. We come here to hear a word and celebrate Jesus. We come here to work for the community. This is our gas station. This is our filling point. We don't. If you come in here for a word, man, in 45 minutes, I can't give you what you need for six days. I'm just giving you a starting point for what you should be studying for the rest of the week. [00:30:38] Amen. [00:30:39] This ain't enough. [00:30:42] Come on, somebody. Am I flopping here? [00:30:47] When we abide in him, his life think about John 15:5. When we abide in him, the fruit. [00:30:55] Of our lives comes not from our efforts. [00:30:58] It comes from the flows of his [00:31:01] Spirit that produces fruit in our life. The Bible says, look at the fruit of someone's life, right? And you will see who they are. Judge their fruit, and you will see who they are. [00:31:15] Listen, I ain't gonna take no marriage [00:31:16] Counseling for somebody divorced. I ain't gonna take marriage counseling for somebody separated. [00:31:21] I ain't gonna take marriage counseling. I ain't gonna take parenthood - parenting from someone that their kids hate them. I am not going to take business advice from somebody bankrupt. And I sure ain't going to take somebody's advice about Jesus that spends 1 hour in their bible a week. [00:31:42] Amen. [00:31:44] We can get together and have good. [00:31:45] Thoughts, or we can start having revelations with God. [00:31:49] Amen. [00:31:52] So, faith, when we begin to realize. [00:31:56] This, faith empowers us to rest. [00:32:01] After we trust in God's works, after we realize that faith is a gift, faith empowers us to rest. Now, that doesn't mean we just sit. [00:32:09] On our laurels and do nothing. [00:32:12] I'm talking. I'm not talking physical. I'm talking emotional and spiritual. All right, so faith empowers us to rest in our emotions. You ever been so troubled in your emotions? How many of you lay down at night and you just can't get your brain to shut off? [00:32:30] Come on, somebody sometimes? [00:32:33] How many? [00:32:33] Honey, this is not a strike at [00:32:35] You, but I think everybody can identify with this. [00:32:38] I do it to her, too. [00:32:39] All right, how many times you finally got yourself settled and your partner says something that just throws you into 2 hours of not sleeping? Anybody know what I'm talking about? Sends you a text. So tomorrow. Can we let tomorrow be tomorrow? Tell me in the morning. [00:32:59] Amen. [00:33:00] Faith empowers you to rest. In Hebrews 4:10, the Bible says, for anyone who enters God's rest in the emotional and spiritual, amen. Enters into God's rest, also rests from. [00:33:13] Their labors, just as they God did creating the world. [00:33:19] The rest refers to ceasing from exhausting self driven effort of trying to achieve righteousness or salvation by our own works. It is exhausting to be a good Christian. Listen, I'm a Christian in church, I'm [00:33:39] A Christian in business, I'm a Christian investing. [00:33:43] Everybody everywhere says, well, you're Christian. Shouldn't you just. Everybody has this perception of Christians that we're welcome mats, that we're gonna help you just cause you asked. I don't know. You don't call me at 12:00 when we ain't really talked and we ain't had McDonald's together. [00:34:02] Amen. [00:34:03] Just because Christian is attached to my name doesn't mean I'm gonna show up when you got a flat tire. We gotta know each other. [00:34:10] Amen. [00:34:11] And if you want God to work for you, you got to know him. You broke, disgusted, upset, and baby needed a new pair of shoes and light bill due. [00:34:22] Amen. [00:34:24] You got everything going wrong in your life. You blaming God, your mama, and this and that. And now you're mad at everything else. You're so focused on the negative, you are not resting in your soul, your thinking. And now. And you wonder why your spirit is so troubled. [00:34:39] Amen. [00:34:40] Faith in transition is learning how to tell your mind to shut up. I have to trust the last thing I heard from God, not what I'm thinking. I have to trust the last thing I read in scripture, not what someone did to me. [00:34:58] I about said something I shouldn't say. Amen. [00:35:04] Can I tell you something? I'm going to. [00:35:12] You showed up on a strange day. [00:35:15] Amen. [00:35:15] I'm going to tell you something. Listen. You blaming everybody but you, your stinking thinking and everybody you done lit up in your mind and even google diagnosed you as dead. You have let all these external things come into your life and tell you what's not working in you. You are never going to make it in this life if you don't know who you are. If you cannot identify yourself as a child of God and act like a child. I tell my boys all the time. [00:36:00] When they act up, I didn't raise you that way. [00:36:03] That doesn't mean do what I told you to do. That means I raised you to be a better person. That ain't how Selfs act. That's just selfish. [00:36:15] By the way, my last name's Self. [00:36:18] And I was raised better. So should we not realize that the raising that we're having in God is so that we can rest from our emotions, emotional efforts, and our spiritual efforts? Can we rest in the trusting in the finished works of Christ on the cross rather than relying on personal efforts to be justified by God? Your good deeds will never justify you. [00:36:45] Amen. [00:36:47] We are invited to stop striving and. [00:36:50] To rest in the finished works of Christ. [00:36:54] So now that we've heard that faith. [00:36:55] And powers rest and trusting that faith gives us the ability to trust in God's works, not our own. And faith is a gift from God. [00:37:03] Faith. We really need to have faith in [00:37:08] God's promises I told someone he's a billionaire. Yesterday I was on the conversation and God called me and told me to talk to him and he really does some amazing things around the world and it's nobody y'all know. And I called him and I said listen, God told me to call you and tell you that you're having delays and not detours. But I said here's the thing. Quick money is not the money God's sending you. God's sending provision attached to a promise. [00:37:42] See sometimes we get quick money and. [00:37:47] That money feels good but it's got [00:37:49] Strings attached to it. Those strings that are attached to it. [00:37:54] Is a person that is wanting to get something back from you or they're putting you in a position to work harder for them. But money provision is attached to a promise from God. God has got provision places he's not [00:38:12] Surprised about what you're going through. [00:38:14] And when you get in the middle. [00:38:16] And your faith is in transition to. [00:38:18] The end of what God's called you to do whether it be business or whatever else you got quick money and you got provision. You choose quick money you're gonna go on a delay or a detour. You choose provision you're gonna head a straight line to exactly where God said he was gonna take you. [00:38:35] Amen. [00:38:36] You just gotta be able to know the difference. Living in faith means standing on the promises of God even when we can't see the outcome. Hebrew 11:1 tells us faith shows us the reality of what we hope for. Huh? [00:38:51] Stop. Faith shows us the reality of what we hope for. [00:38:58] I'm about to get myself in trouble again. I told you we were gonna be deep today right? So I'm not beating you up. I'm trying to shake you up and get you ready for where you're going to have your life be better than it is right now. You're stuck where you are because you have some old thinking that you're not willing to transition out of. You're scared of your next step because. [00:39:24] Your next step means you got to. [00:39:26] Believe in something you've never done before. Listen, in my life I do a lot of things I've never done before. I just look, I just make myself look really good at making people believe that I know what I'm doing. [00:39:40] Amen. [00:39:41] Because I have faith in the skill that God's given me to be able to do what God's called me to do. [00:39:48] I have faith and faith is hope and that hope shows me a reality. [00:39:54] That's just going to come to pass. [00:39:56] But see there's a different thing inside of our emotions. [00:39:59] There's a different thing inside of our thinking that is quite narcissistic. As Christians, I'm going to preach that message, Narcissistic Christians, someday. [00:40:07] Amen. [00:40:08] We start making outlandish statements, we start falsifying truth and we start adding our. [00:40:15] Wants and our steroids to God's word. [00:40:19] We're going to have the biggest church on the Gold Coast and it's going to have all the families and this. And I'm going to be the prophet [00:40:25] Of the Gold Coast, y'all. Some of y'all probably heard that on Friday night. [00:40:28] Anyway, anyway. [00:40:32] Sorry and sorry. And so, ooh, I just got myself in trouble. [00:40:41] I am, but it's good. And we gonna have the biggest church and the biggest business. We gonna be flowing in money. When God said, I just want you to meet somebody and because that person is important, like Mayor Tom Tate, you're thinking God's just opening doors and you're adding steroids to your faith and, and you're pumping it up with your natural thinking. That's the quick money you need to sometimes just settle in the fact and stop thinking so much about what God's doing and just take the next step. [00:41:12] Amen. [00:41:13] You just need to take the next step. When God promises something we can trust that he will bring it to pass. Abraham is an example of this. In Romans 4:20 it says, Abraham never wavered in believing God's promises. In fact, his faith grew stronger and in this he brought glory to God. Now we all know that. [00:41:35] Sarah laughed. [00:41:37] Thank you, Eve and Sarah. We all know that. Sarah said, well, if you just lay with Hagar and produce a seed with her because God's taking too long, then when she gives birth, she can just sit on my knees and it as be as if I gave birth to the child and that'll be God's promise. Faith, listen, I'm not blaming a woman here, okay? I'm really not. [00:42:02] That's not what I'm doing. [00:42:04] Abraham's faith didn't waver because he thought. [00:42:06] Well, maybe that's just God's plan. I think Abraham just took the opportunity. [00:42:10] Amen. [00:42:12] Because men are men, you dogs. [00:42:17] But he didn't waver in faith. I promise you, I'm the same person everywhere. He didn't waver in faith because, one thing, he didn't waver in faith because he said, if this is how God's going to provide, that's how he's going to provide. When Isaac came along, he took him up to the mountain and said, I'm going to worship. He knew that God would provide. He didn't waver, even though he took some detours. You're like, well, wait a minute. Isn't a detour a waiver? No, a detour is when the enemy puts something enticing in the way and you think it's God. He was still attaching himself to what he thought was God. Faith in transition is knowing exactly what God is for my sheep know my voice. [00:43:07] Amen. [00:43:09] You got to know exactly who God [00:43:11] Is, exactly what he's saying, and stand [00:43:14] Firm on his promises. So our faith doesn't depend on what we see, but on the certainty of God's word that we can trust him. Do you have that position and thinking in your life, am I boring y'all yet? [00:43:27] Okay, it's kind of a comedy central up here right now, but. [00:43:34] The reality is it's like, do you trust him? [00:43:38] Do you really not what you say out your mouth, but at your core. [00:43:42] Do you really, really, really trust God. [00:43:44] That he's gonna heal you? [00:43:46] Do you really, really believe he's gonna. [00:43:47] Help you with that business plan? Do you really, really believe he's gonna help your marriage? [00:43:50] Do you really, really, really believe he's. [00:43:51] Gonna help your child? [00:43:53] Are you really at your core believe [00:43:55] Or are you still questioning? I hope this works out. [00:43:59] Because if I hope this works out, it's still a thought in your mind. [00:44:02] You have not actually settled in faith. You've settled in thought. Does this make sense to everybody? Listen, I've been here 100 times. [00:44:14] And. [00:44:15] That's where the role of grace comes in, with faith, okay? Because faith can feel one sided. That's why faith feels like a burden. Everybody with me. [00:44:27] Faith can feel like a burden. [00:44:29] How is this message, Kass? Is it good? Come on. [00:44:32] Faith can feel like a burden. Faith can feel like something we can demonstrate. But this is where the role and [00:44:37] Balance comes in of grace. [00:44:40] Amen. [00:44:42] Faith and grace are inseparable. You would not have what you have without Jesus. Grace is what enables our faith. [00:44:52] Romans 5:1-2 says, therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus our Lord. [00:45:03] Has done for us. Stop. Look at that. Read that. Don't wait for me to talk. [00:45:07] Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace. Faith. Peace with God. [00:45:18] Because of what you did last summer. [00:45:22] Because of how you prayed, because of how you prophesied, because you show up. [00:45:28] To church every Sunday and you're the most faithful volunteer there is. No. [00:45:32] Because of what Jesus Christ, our Lord [00:45:35] Has done for us. [00:45:38] If church has gotten boring for you, if ministry has gotten and it's just not deep enough, I want to remind you that this message is actually quite simple. Man needed a savior and Christ came [00:45:54] So that we could have a helper to live a life of peace. [00:45:59] Amen. [00:46:01] Let's go on. [00:46:02] Because of our faith, Christ has brought. [00:46:06] Us into a place of undeserved privilege where we now stand. [00:46:10] Look at that right there. This is where I wanna land. Because of our faith, our hope in him. This is not your faith at work. You chose to believe in Christ because you chose to believe in Christ. Christ has brought you in a place [00:46:27] Of undeserved privilege where you now stand. [00:46:30] Come on, somebody. I don't feel it right now. I just don't know what you're talking. Listen, I love peace. I love, I love, I love, I love. I love when problems happen in my [00:46:44] Life and I can just look at [00:46:44] That and say, well, that's Monday's problem. I don't have to deal with that today. You know, I can't worry money into my bank account, but I can believe God that he'll give me power and [00:46:56] Wisdom to get it there. [00:46:58] Amen. [00:46:59] Hallelujah. [00:47:00] Somebody's getting blessed today because of our faith. Christ has brought us into a place of undeserved privilege. Where you now stand. [00:47:07] You're standing there right now. [00:47:09] You thought you messed up. [00:47:10] You thought you made a mess of your life. You thought you got to the mountaintop and there's just nothing else for you. Your life is so good. You're the CEO of this and that. [00:47:17] But there's still more. [00:47:18] You're standing in a place of privilege. God's not going to stop giving to you because you messed up and God's not going to stop giving you because. [00:47:24] You reached the pinnacle. [00:47:26] We are confidently and joyfully looking forward. [00:47:28] To sharing God's glory. [00:47:31] Amen. [00:47:32] The role of grace. The grace of God allows us to live by faith. It's by grace that we are saved and sustained not by our believing, but our believing in what he has done. [00:47:46] That will sustain us. [00:47:48] It's by grace that we have peace with God. Grace takes the pressure off of us and puts the focus back on God. It doesn't say, why, God, aren't you doing it? It says, God, I know you're doing it. That's the difference in having faith and not having faith. Just a little bit of word change. God, why aren't you doing it? And God, I know you're doing it. I know you're working in me. I'm a little troubled, like now. I'm a little anxious. My false prophet is speaking to me again. I'm a little afraid. I don't know what's coming next. But you know what, God? I believe you. And I'm going to stop listening to all my thoughts, my fears, my worries and my tears. And I'm going to start looking at the promises I have in you. [00:48:26] Amen. [00:48:29] It's by grace that we have peace with God. I read. I've read the whole Bible. [00:48:37] I hope you would think that. I have. [00:48:39] And I've read it a few times by now, and I never saw peace without trouble. Sometimes we think that peace is a sign of no trouble. No, peace is being able to have [00:48:56] Peace when all hell is breaking loose in your life. [00:48:59] Peace is the ability to stand up on the mountaintop and see that there's. [00:49:04] Still a future ahead. And God's not done with you yet, because you 75, or you 55, or [00:49:09] You 46, or you're 30, or you [00:49:11] 28, peace is something that transitions you to the next step. [00:49:19] Amen. [00:49:20] Does this make sense? [00:49:25] We don't have to worry about earning his favor. His grace already provides everything we need. Come on, somebody. [00:49:35] So, can I tell you a few things about what I believe? Faith is not striving. It's not working harder, doing more or being perfect. [00:49:45] He's not looking ahead so far. [00:49:47] Listen, I was talking to somebody today and I said, listen, if I said it last week, if you knew all that it was going to take to get where God's taking you, you'd have [00:49:57] Quit a long time ago. You just need to focus on your next step. [00:50:02] Faith is not about being perfect. Faith is about trusting God, trusting in his promises, his grace, his work in us. It's about resting in his finished works. I mean, truly resting in your inner man. You ever been troubled? Ever been worried? You ever been going through something right now in your life where you're like, God, is this really what I'm supposed to be doing? How about you just trust your next step? How about you just trust that God's. [00:50:30] Going to lead you further than you. [00:50:31] Thought you would go. Let your capacity stretch. [00:50:35] Amen. [00:50:36] So it's about resting in your finished works in Christ and allowing his holy spirit to lead us. Our faith doesn't rely on what we can do or what we can't do. It relies on what God has already done. [00:50:50] Amen. [00:50:51] Do you believe that this morning. [00:50:53] Amen. [00:50:55] So let's stop working so hard at our faith, and let's allow faith to [00:51:01] Work for us through the power of God at work in our lives. [00:51:06] I'm gonna say that last sentence again. [00:51:08] Cause I think everybody needs to hear it one more time, and we're gonna do something a little weird. So let's say it together. [00:51:14] Let's stop working so hard at our [00:51:19] Faith and allow faith to work for us through the power of God at [00:51:27] Work in our lives. The moment faith requires you to do. [00:51:33] More, you've stepped into religion. [00:51:39] The moment faith requires you to do. [00:51:41] More, you've stepped into narcissism. [00:51:44] The more that faith requires you to say, I've just got it. [00:51:48] I just. [00:51:48] We gotta do this or God ain't gonna do it. I don't read that in my Bible. [00:51:52] That's fear talking. That's manipulation talking. That's garbage. [00:51:58] Amen. [00:52:00] Take the trash out where it belongs. [00:52:03] And start listening to Jesus. [00:52:07] Be very careful who you trust to [00:52:11] Speak to you when your faith is in transition. [00:52:16] Because one degree off in 1900 kilometers. [00:52:19] Is way off the mark. [00:52:23] Amen. [00:52:26] And some people, they're going to see your gift. [00:52:29] They're going to see your future. [00:52:30] They're going to see what you're capable of, and they're going to try and talk you into where God's taking you. [00:52:35] You cannot go where God's taken you without your faith. [00:52:39] Amen. [00:52:41] And some of you this morning saying. [00:52:42] Oh, this isn't really for me. [00:52:44] Listen, I wish everybody could hear this message, but I'm looking across some faces and I'm seeing, nah, I'm just tired. You know, me and Jeremy were talking the other day, and we're talking about this group of men that we're in. I think I even talked to Paddy. [00:53:00] About it, and we were talking, and I hear language coming inside of our conversation that was like, yeah, those guys meet every week. Maybe we should just slow down, do this, do that. I said, man, those guys in that group are fired up. [00:53:12] It's us that's tired. [00:53:14] They're them 22 year olds with no kids, no wives, no job, no responsibility, and they still live in the home making money. Amen. They got the energy to do that. We don't let them do it. [00:53:25] Amen. [00:53:26] Let them be young. But if you're 22, single, and got no responsibility other than a couple bills, why are you so tired? Got no kids, you ain't got a plant you can keep alive. [00:53:40] Amen. [00:53:41] And you're so tired, worried about everything quit letting everybody else's problems be your problem. Let your emotional capacity grow with Jesus, not with people. [00:53:55] Amen. Amen. [00:54:01] Hmm. I think I've gotten myself in trouble a few times today, but hopefully y'all. [00:54:06] Come back next week with some friends. Yeah, invite some friends. Cause can I tell you something I've [00:54:16] Never said to you before? And you can get mad at me here, and I'm gonna close. There's talents here. There is fertilizer here for people to grow. How selfish are we not to invite people here? We need to invite people here. We need to. We need to tell them, this is where you need to be. If they're working on a Sunday, tell them they can work after twelve. [00:54:40] Amen. [00:54:41] They really shouldn't be working at all. But sometimes you got to do what you got to do. [00:54:48] Amen. [00:54:49] You don't need to fall in the habit of having no Sabbath. [00:54:53] Amen. [00:54:56] But we need to really start saying, there's something here. [00:54:59] Do you believe that? [00:55:00] There's something here. Amen. Well, I'll leave you with this. Father, I thank you for the opportunity to speak to people today. And if they be just one here that's heard this message. Hmm. We are blessed, Lord. Keep people from having conversations of themselves today about this message. And may they really just stay in the thickness of this message. If I really need to have that faith, I don't need more faith. I need to understand what faith is. And I need to understand that my faith is in transition. [00:55:38] My faith is going to carry me. [00:55:40] Over by the grace of God into the finalization of what God's promised. So, Lord, we thank you today for [00:55:47] All of our visitors. [00:55:47] We thank you for all of our friends. We pray for all those that are out unwell. And we pray for all those that we don't know where they are this morning, but may there be a fire built inside of us, not at World Changers. That just makes us a movement. [00:56:02] Lord, I want a personal fanning of [00:56:06] The flame of what's on the inside [00:56:08] Of us so that every day of [00:56:11] The week we're exuberating who you are in us and working through us instead of just being Sunday Christians and Monday morning marauders and Wednesday warriors and Friday flappers and Saturday criers. God help us to show up on Sunday celebrating that we showed you every day of the week. May our conversations change. God do work in me, Kyle David self. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Every head bowed and every eye closed. I give this invitation every Sunday. [00:56:51] If you're here today and you don't [00:56:53] Know the Lord Jesus Christ. All you got to do is lift your hand. We won't make a spectacle of you. I'm never going to assume that you're all saved or that you haven't lost your way and just need that affirmation if you want to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior or just reaffirm it. Can you just lift your hand right where you are? Thank you. Lord, if you're here today and this message has touched you in any certain way, this last question I want to ask, can you just lift your hand? If you received from this message today, thank you for the hands. Thank you for the hands. For those of you who didn't raise your hand, thank you for your honesty. But I'm going to continue to pray for you because each and every one of us should be receiving from the word of God. So, Father, we thank you that in the name of Jesus, that none of us feel condemned, that we feel motivated to walk in you. So for those of you that raised your hand for the first question, Father, we just want to reaffirm, Lord, that I'm standing with you, walking with you, and that I can just reposition myself, realign myself like a wheel alignment to chase after you, Father. So right now, for those that raise your hand in the first question, just whisper this prayer with all of us. Can you whisper this with me? Lord, I thank you for my salvation. I am assured that you will align in me through your Holy spirit, wisdom, hope, joy and direction for my life. For those that raised your hand for the second question, can you just simply listen to this prayer? Father, I. I thank you for the encouragement I've received from this word today that will give me power through the week. May I go and study the deeper truths of this message. Father, we thank you for each and every person here today, raised hand or not, we're not separating you. Can we just thank each and every? Can we just be thankful for each and every person? It's in Jesus name we pray and we all say amen. [00:59:02] Come on, give the Lord a hand clap of praise. [00:59:04] Thank you, son. [00:59:08] Thank you for tuning in to today's message.
